The DAT Resources tab now has a full Key Facts Digest built around how the exam is actually structured and scored -- not practice questions, but the mechanics, timing, and strategy facts that shape how you should prepare in the first place.
What's in the tables
Five quick-reference tables cover the facts most test-takers either don't know or get slightly wrong:
- Test structure and timing -- exact question counts and time limits for the three sections this site covers, plus a look at the Perceptual Ability Test, the image-based section not included in the practice question bank.
- Biology topic areas -- the five roughly-even topic areas that make up the 40-question Biology portion, so you know none of them is safe to skip.
- General & Organic Chemistry topic areas -- how General Chemistry's eleven topic areas and Organic Chemistry's five topic areas are actually distributed across their 30 questions each.
- Reading Comprehension & Quantitative Reasoning quick facts -- format, timing pressure, and real strategy notes for both remaining sections.
- Scoring scale, Academic Average & test-day policy facts -- how the 200-600 scale works, exactly which five section scores make up your Academic Average, and the real retake and application policies.

What's in the flashcard decks
Four decks built for active recall rather than passive reading:
- Test-day and application logistics -- application timing, retake limits, ID requirements, and the real facts about how the DAT is actually scheduled.
- Biology quick facts -- standalone recall facts spanning all five Biology topic areas.
- General & Organic Chemistry quick facts -- standalone recall facts spanning both chemistry subjects.
- Reading & Quantitative Reasoning strategy quick facts -- format and strategy facts for the two remaining sections.
What's in the audio lessons
Three narrated section-strategy walkthroughs -- Survey of the Natural Sciences, Reading Comprehension, and Quantitative Reasoning -- each roughly three to five minutes, for reviewing section strategy hands-free, away from a screen.
A few real facts worth knowing right now
Some of what's in the Digest, as a preview:
- Your Academic Average is the simple average of just five of your eight reported scores -- Biology, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Reading Comprehension, and Quantitative Reasoning. Your Perceptual Ability Test score and Total Science score are NOT included in it.
- Effective March 1, 2025, the DAT moved from a 1-30 scale to a 200-600 scaled-score system -- don't trust older prep material that still references the old scale.
- You're allowed up to 4 DAT attempts in any 12-month period, with a mandatory 60-day wait between attempts.
- The DAT is administered essentially year-round at Prometric centers, not on fixed national dates like the ACT -- but that also means there's no "next available date" fallback if you miss your own planned timeline.
What's free to preview
One full table and one full flashcard deck are free to preview on the DAT track right now, no purchase required. The remaining tables, decks, and all three audio lessons are part of the same unlock as the full DAT practice-question bank.
Where to find it
Open the DAT track and go to its Resources tab -- the tables, flashcard decks, and audio lessons are listed alongside the official DAT info link, with the free preview items clearly marked.
